Wrestled at The Ohio State University, Current Assistant Coach for Lawrence North High School (2004 & 2005 Team State Champions), 2x Indiana HS State Placer, Indiana HS State Runner-Up, Indiana Freestyle and Greco Roman State Champ (2003), Indiana Freestyle and Greco Roman State Runner Up (2002)

Adams Central is proud to be hosting Team Humphrey:

We will be accepting registration for seven nights of wrestling conducted by Jim, Jordin, and Reece Humphrey starting in May. We are inviting all area wrestlers to learn from some of the greatest wrestling knowledge our sport has to offer by inviting Team Humphrey to our area. Each night will consist of two hours of instruction, intense drilling, and live wrestling with many of the areas top high school athletes. Techniques covered will be based on getting and staying in good position, and will be reinforced through drilling. The other focus will be creating a very intense environment that will teach you how to train like a champion.

DATES: May 19th and 26th June 4th, 9th, 18th, and 25th July 9th

Times: 5:30-7:30 p.m.

LOCATION: Adams Central Wrestling Gym

COST: $100.00, this also signs you up with Team Humphrey and allow you to work out with them on Sundays at Lawrence North High School.

I am very excited about this camp and think this is an awesome opportunity for you guys to work with some of the best coaches not only in the state of Indiana but in the nation. I encourage you all to take advantage of this chance. The practices will be intense so you need to be ready to work hard. They are only accepting a certain number of wrestlers, so it is going to be 1^st come 1^st serve. I need to now who is all coming by April 17. The money and registration is due on the 1^st night of practice. I am also hoping to set up some transportation for you guys, so you don’t all have to drive there and back every night. If you tell me to sign you up then you are committed to the 100$ so please make sure that you will be able to attend the practices. DON’T MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY!!

Semi-State Qualifiers

Troy Fiechter–125 pounds

Troy lost his opening round match to Dan Rothgeb from Whitko by a 14-9 decision. He ended his amazing career at Southern Wells with a season record of 35-4. He is now the all time wins holder with a record of 121- 28. Rothgeb went on to place 8th in the state finals.

Darin Fiechter–130 pounds

Darin won his 1st round match by pin over Brok Westfall from Taylor. That set up his ticket round match with Austin Egolf from Columbia City. Darin lost this match by a 9-4 decision. He ended his junior season with a record of 36-4. Egolf went on to place 5th at the state finals.

Levi Jones–145 pounds

Levi lost his opening round match by pin to Zach Corpe. Levi ended his junior season with a record of 26-13. Corpe went on to place 5th at the state finals.

Brandon Biberstine–171 pounds

Brandon Biberstine won his 1st round match by pin over ACAC foe Luke Rieke from Garrett. That setup his ticket round match against George Lopez from Northwood. Brandon lost this match by pin. He ended his awesome senior season with a record of 33-9. Lopez was beat on Friday night at the State Finals.

2008-2009 Season Comes to an End

On March 17 the official close to another season came at the end of the year Awards Banquet. The Southern Wells Wrestling team was treated to an awesome night of food and awards. The night started off by having the Jr. High Wrestlers accept their awards for the season. The Jr. High wrestling team finished the season with a team record of 6-9, and had many individual accomplishments. Benjamin Fiechter, that’s right another Fiechter, and Clay Watson were Adams Central Invitational champions. Fiechter was also an ACAC Champion to finish his 8th grade season with a perfect record of 23-0. Benjamin Fiechter was named Most Valuable wrestler and Cody Yeiter was Most Improved Wrestler for the 2009 Jr. High Season.

The high school awards were as followed: Most Valuable J.V. Wrestler was Ethan Potter and Most Improved J.V. wrestler was Zach Green. Most Takedowns by Darin Fiechter (85), Most Pins by Brandon Biberstine (20), and two new school records were set by Troy Fiechter for Most Career Wins (121) and Most Career Takedowns (249). Troy Fiechter was named Most Valuable Wrestler and Zack Melton was name Most Improved Wrestler for the 2008-2009 High School Season. The 2009 Seniors will not soon be forgotten at Southern Wells, these 5 seniors have shown so much in their work ethic and the success that they had in their careers.

Troy Fiechter is one of the hardest working kids I have ever been around. He has many awards and accomplishments that prove hard work does pay off. He has won more tournaments and more matches than any other previous wrestler at Southern Wells, but his character and work ethic will be what is missed the most.

Josh Morris is a guy who has never stopped improving since the 1st day on the mat. Josh worked hard in the practice room and continued to improve each day. Josh was a Weston Close champ this year and had an amazing senior season to close out his career.

Brandon Biberstine is a fierce competitor, and that is what I will always remember about him. He didn’t care who he wrestled, he expected to win. His hard work and refuse to lose attitude is what pushed him to a great Senior season and an awesome career. An ACAC champ and 2 time Semi-State qualifier highlighted his awesome career.

Emily Pursifull was the manager for the Varsity wrestling team for the last 4 seasons, and will be greatly missed. She did an amazing job keeping the score book and a fantastic job on the scrapbooks and blankets for the senior wrestlers and coaches. Thanks for all your time.

Sara Alfrod is another senior manager who did a great job this season. Whether she was needed at the J.V. tournaments or at practice, she was willing to help in any way she could. She also deserves a thanks for the awesome scrapbooks and blankets as well.
